How to install crown on frameless cabinets

We have a 2 piece crown molding which will pretty much go to the cieling above our cabs. The first is a 2" "L" shaped, it has a backer that goes on the top of the cab, and then the angled piece attaches to that.

What's the best method to get that first vertical piece installed?

It seems one needs to either:

A) gang the cabinets together, install the first piece of crown and then install the group together OR

B) try to install the first piece by nailing/screwing/gluing from the inside of the cab up into the backer. Doesn't seem like there will be any way to reach it from the top since there will only be 2" or some between the top of it and the ceiling.

Can anyone share any tips/tricks?

Thanks!
