Plain soap and water and walkoff rugs at all the entrances. Sand is the worst possible thing for vinyl. It abrades its wear layer quickly. If you aren't a shoes off household, you may be replacing it in 5 years. Porcelain tile would have been a better choice, even if you just did entry areas in it, coupled with the frequently cleaned rugs.

We are very happy with our choice. Porcelain is too hard, bad for the knees, acoustics a night mare and with the possibility of breakage in a kitchen, not a good option. We are a shoe off family and rugs at all entrances is always a good idea. The vinyl we chose will stand up, no worries there. Thank you for your help. I was just curious because the chain store had a special tool and cleaning solution. It seems my instincts were correct and that is unnecessary.

In our utility areas we used Armstrong Luxury Vinyl tiles that are installed with no grout. I believe its the same product as the planks. Great floor, and seems almost indestructible. It certainly is a far cry from the old vinyl floors. I usually just use water with a little vinegar and a microfiber cloth. Been using that for 3 years, and the floor still looks the same as the day installed. No need to baby these floors. Our mud room area is where sandy/muddy shoes get changed, and the floor shows absolutely no wear at all.
