Existing ventilation with gas range?

Right now our electric range is ventilated by a fan above the sink across from the range that circulates directly to the great outdoors. As you can see there is no range hood. We're thinking about upgrading to a gas range (Lacanche Volnay) which has a 18k, 15k, two 11k and 5k burners. Any idea if the existing ventilation system (which admittedly is not the strongest thing in the world) would be safe even if not ideal?
