I have gained a ton of knowledge by looking at others' suggestions and guidance. Now I'm looking for yours!
Here's my projected layout for a remodeled kitchen in our new house in Aiken, SC. Here are photos of the existing kitchen area:
Existing kitchen from middle of room , looking toward stove wall

Another picture of kitchen looking into great room, with Pantry Wall on right.
2 Stove Wall at far end; Pantry Wall to right photo kitchenandGreatRoom_zps21f63620.jpg

Opposite wall to Stove Wall, showing new dining area. Pantry wall will be on the left.

The layout has been done with Barker Cabinets, as they can be customized for maximum space utilization.

Five "walls" of cabinets plus an island.

Bottom of plan is where current kitchen cabinets are located. Island located between these cabinets.
At middle of plan is traffic pathway from Great Room on left to Garage and Laundry on right. Cabinets at top of plan are where current "Breakfast Area" is located. Further beyond top of plan is Dining Area, approx. 10 feet deep with two very large picture windows.

5 Sink Wall photo 5SinkWall_zps2f7476e4.png

Cabinets from right to left are dishwasher, 18" pull-out trash, 30" sink and 36x34 corner cabinet.
All are base cabinets as area above is open to Great Room with 16' cathedral ceiling.

Back of cabinets will be attached to a new 40 " high, 5" thick wall, with the back of the wall next to the cabinets flush with the existing Great Room wall. From the kitchen, at the back of the base cabinets, the wall will consist of 3/4" plywood, a 2x4 framed lumber wall faced (on the Great Room side) with 3/4" plywood, then faced with a 3/4" finished wall panel (from cabinet manufacturer)., Cabinets will be attached to the kitchen side of this wall. Wall will be topped with 16-18" wide granite countertop with a 11-12" overhang into the Great Room and 1" overhang into the kitchen.
6 Stove Wall photo 6StoveWall_zpse2d995cf.png
Cabinets from right to left are remaining 10"portion of corner cabinet door 12" tray cabinet, 30" slide-in gas stove, 20" 1 door cabinet. Stainless steel vent hood 30" above stove, either totally exposed, up through custom wood hood, or up through 12" wall cabinets Small amount of vertical wall then doorway to hall. Two wall cabinets to right of stove measure 21" wide, with right edge of finished wall end panel 2 1/2" from Great Room vertical wall (allows for line-up of crown molding with vertical wall.)
7 Refrigerator Wall photo 7RefrigeratorWall_zps70070896.png

In the middle - Frigidaire 19 cubic foot counter-depth freezer and matching refrigerator, with narrow stainless trim kit. See Required cutout for this pair is 66" wide x 75" high, with 1 1/2" filler around edges. (Trim kit will cover 3/4" with 3/4" exposed.)
Cabinets on each end include a 36" high x 20" wide 2 drawer base, a 18" high x 20" wide one door appliance garage, then a 42" high x 20" wide one door cabinet. Two one door "flip-up_ cabinets at top.

ALL cabinets will be 24" deep to give "solid wall" look. Flush toe kick.
Doorway to left of REFRIGERATOR WALL goes to laundry room and garage. To right of wall - doorway to hall that continues to existing dining room and foyer.
8 Wine Wall photo 8WineWall_zpse1252082.png
Across traffic flow pattern from Great Room to Garage. . .. Against right wall, matching length to cabinets on left wall (PANTRY WALL). 24" wide wine chiller in base, flanked by 33" wide 2 drawer base cabinets with inside rollout drawer. Three 30" wide, 12" deep glass door wall cabinets above.
9 Pantry Wall photo 9PantryWall_zps2c0c81a9.png
Across from WINE WALL, matching length. Tall pantry cabinet to left, with 5 rollout shelves, 24" deep cabinet above. Above countertop, 2 12" deep open bookcases for cookbooks, topped by two 2 door 12" wall cabinets.

Preliminary plans for the 30 x 48" island to include two 30 inch base cabinets " back-to-back. Facing stove will be a 30" Pot Cabinet, with 2 drawers and hidden roll-out drawer for pot lids. Facing toward dining area will be a 30" wide 2 drawer base cabinet, with Sharp 30" microwave drawer in top portion.
Option is to also place a 30" warming drawer underneath microwave drawer. Island will be covered by granite countertop.

Clearances around the island are all approximately 40" from sink, stove and refrigerator.

Space at top of cabinets will include an 8" soffit, and 2 piece Shaker crown molding, with backer.

RE: New kitchen layout - suggestions???

Lots of info but hard to follow. Looking at your layout I can't determine where is the sink? etc? Can you mark appliances and mark measurements counter edge to counter edge, etc.

RE: New kitchen layout - suggestions???

See updated plan with labels.

From sink to island - 40"
From island to frig - 40"
From stove to island - 38"
From dishwasher to pantry wall - 36"
From pantry across to wine - 90"

I would be moving island 3-4" further away from stove, but not into traffic pattern between great room and garage.

RE: New kitchen layout - suggestions???

Hi Bob, I looked at your thread a couple of times and I think I’m just not that familiar with this kind of layout and not sure what to suggest. Is the layout you posted something you are settled on and is there some particular issue with it that you need help with?

Just some initial thoughts…

I like the fact you have a freezer and fridge in the kitchen. It is a nice large space. The end that has the sink stove and refrigerator is a nice work triangle. Then to have a separate pantry area and what looks like a beverage center is nice too.

So, does this layout meet your needs and are you happy with it? Is there something you are thinking of changing?
