I have gained a ton of knowledge by looking at others' suggestions and guidance. Now I'm looking for yours!
Here's my projected layout for a remodeled kitchen in our new house in Aiken, SC. Here are photos of the existing kitchen area:
Existing kitchen from middle of room , looking toward stove wall

Another picture of kitchen looking into great room, with Pantry Wall on right.

Opposite wall to Stove Wall, showing new dining area. Pantry wall will be on the left.

The layout has been done with Barker Cabinets, as they can be customized for maximum space utilization.

Five "walls" of cabinets plus an island.

OVERALL LAYOUT
Bottom of plan is where current kitchen cabinets are located. Island located between these cabinets.
At middle of plan is traffic pathway from Great Room on left to Garage and Laundry on right. Cabinets at top of plan are where current "Breakfast Area" is located. Further beyond top of plan is Dining Area, approx. 10 feet deep with two very large picture windows.

***************
SINK WALL

Cabinets from right to left are dishwasher, 18" pull-out trash, 30" sink and 36x34 corner cabinet.
All are base cabinets as area above is open to Great Room with 16' cathedral ceiling.

Back of cabinets will be attached to a new 40 " high, 5" thick wall, with the back of the wall next to the cabinets flush with the existing Great Room wall. From the kitchen, at the back of the base cabinets, the wall will consist of 3/4" plywood, a 2x4 framed lumber wall faced (on the Great Room side) with 3/4" plywood, then faced with a 3/4" finished wall panel (from cabinet manufacturer)., Cabinets will be attached to the kitchen side of this wall. Wall will be topped with 16-18" wide granite countertop with a 11-12" overhang into the Great Room and 1" overhang into the kitchen.

STOVE WALL

Cabinets from right to left are remaining 10"portion of corner cabinet door 12" tray cabinet, 30" slide-in gas stove, 20" 1 door cabinet. Stainless steel vent hood 30" above stove, either totally exposed, up through custom wood hood, or up through 12" wall cabinets Small amount of vertical wall then doorway to hall. Two wall cabinets to right of stove measure 21" wide, with right edge of finished wall end panel 2 1/2" from Great Room vertical wall (allows for line-up of crown molding with vertical wall.)
*************************
REFRIGERATOR WALL

In the middle - Frigidaire 19 cubic foot counter-depth freezer and matching refrigerator, with narrow stainless trim kit. See http://www.frigidaire.com/Kitchen-Appliances/Refrigerators/Single-Door-Refrigerator/FPRH19D7LF/ Required cutout for this pair is 66" wide x 75" high, with 1 1/2" filler around edges. (Trim kit will cover 3/4" with 3/4" exposed.)
Cabinets on each end include a 36" high x 20" wide 2 drawer base, a 18" high x 20" wide one door appliance garage, then a 42" high x 20" wide one door cabinet. Two one door "flip-up_ cabinets at top.

ALL cabinets will be 24" deep to give "solid wall" look. Flush toe kick.
Doorway to left of REFRIGERATOR WALL goes to laundry room and garage. To right of wall - doorway to hall that continues to existing dining room and foyer.
