Finishes Finally!!! And a laugh for Rayna...

I've been looking for tile casually for over a year, and seriously since October or so. I've been going nuts. Pretty early in the seriously looking period I found countertop tiles -- Architerra Northwest Brocade.

Today I got a new sample...and FINALLY HAVE A FLOOR!!!!

Who knew it would be so hard to find a warm, light color in a floor tile? I was finally considering alternatives like Marmoleum, which is gorgeous, but too intense for my other finishes. But at the little, earth friendly showroom where they had the marmoleum, they had this tile!! It's called Cotton. It's warm and sparkly and has a nice, no slipping texture.

The colors in this picture are all wrong--too dark, and kind of blued out. I don't know how to get them right without resorting to actual film. But you can see the texture, and there-in lies the joke you might have caught as well as Rayna...

Did you notice? Did you know that I'm a fiber artist? It seems I'm quilting my kitchen!

Laxsupermom, Yes! That's why I'm so excited! The contractor and cabinet maker are coming over tomorrow and I'm thrilled that they'll be able to start. Can't measure floor to ceiling if you don't know how high the ceiling is. :) I don't know firm dates yet, but I've bought most of the appliances, chosen the rest, and we're in the detailing the cabinets phase. Soon it is! I'm so glad you think it's pretty!

Pbrisjar, I love tile. :) I'm glad you like the ones I've chosen. Details a plenty.

The counter tile is from the Architerra Northwest Brocades line from Mission Tiles West. Most of the countertop tiles will be plain color, mostly greens, with ones with the stencils mixed in. I'm doing a pond theme, so will have occasional frogs, waterlilies, vines, and maybe ginko flowers. The backsplash will phase up into the reds for a sunset feeling, with vines and bamboo. Not 100% sure about behind the cooktop, if I'm going to do something more, but it'll be from the same line. I need to work on that more.

The floor tile is "white cotton"--it really is a bright warm white in person!--from the Stonepeak Fashion line, which I got from epOxyGreen in Venice. epOxyGreen was a great find--one I wouldn't have made if I hadn't decided to look at the Marmoleum.

I don't know much about the bamboo--it was found by the cabinet maker. It's farmed bamboo from China, no VOC, and the core is perpendicular to the surfaces so that it's stronger. It's very fine and even. I'll be keeping the natural color, which is yellower than it looks on my screen. The green tile is lighter and brighter than it appears to me in this picture too.
