And another question...Corner Cabinets

I have 2 lower corner cabinets. I'm not keen on the idea of the door opening out and then reaching in to spin the lazy susan.

I have chosen to do the doors like I have them now--the door is attached to the lazy susan so it spins inside. I like this so I can leave it turned and access the shelves because they essentially come out of the corner when turned. Makes accessing oils, vinegars, and other cooking stuff easy to grab while cooking.

He does offer drawers in the corners but they cost more and I'm not sure I need them, I've got plenty of space in the new kitchen. So I'm not worried about maximizing the space.

Will it look stupid? I'm doing full overlay doors. Or is it just another TKO moment and I'm over thinking things again?

Hmmmm. I wanted the type of corner cab you describe, but my cab maker said it wouldn't work with full overlay. I had to do the ridiculous lazy Susan dealie I cannot stand.

If you don't need the space and like the cab option you have, why spend the extra money? They'll be plenty of places down the road to spend that extra bit of cash. Trust me.

If you have to use those doors, at least get something interesting to go behind them.

If you're going to have the door spin with the lazy susan then I think the door has to be recessed.
If the rest of your cabs are overlay, you may not like having 2 different door styles.

breezy, my cabinetmaker said I could do whatever I wanted. (How nice is that attitidue compared to "I don't like that", geez.

I did just go and look at your kitchen again. I think that does look nicer.

I will ask him what he plans on doing. If he thinks it will look ok, I'll trust him. Otherwise I'll switch. I remember KD1 offering me 2 different styles to choose from for those doors. Honestly, I had no idea what he was talking about.

Yes, willtv, the doors will be recessed, unless he has some sort of ingenious plan. He is awesome. Beaglesdoitbetter broke him in for me. That's what I keep telling him!

Bee- I just met with a kitchen designer yesterday. I mentioned that I prefer the old-fashioned lazy susan as I do not like the big hinges on the newer styled ones. (I had just banged the door on the cabinet next to it as I tried to close it.)

She said they could specify it the way I want it (Shiloh) and that it would look fine with my full overlay doors. (She had done this before.)

It'll work fine. It's actually better with inset.

Bee--ask him to show you a picture of what "ok" looks like. In my case, I don't think full overlay drawers on one side of an inset corner cab door and a full overlay sink base cab on the other side would have passed muster with me. But maybe I just never saw a picture to see how that would look. Too late now, I guess!

I think the kind of recessed corner door you are describing looks good with inset cabinets, as then all the doors look consistent. I personally would not care for that kind of corner door with full overlay cabinets.
