Induction cooktop: what to put beneath the pan?

I've used paper towels or parchment paper beneath pans while cooking on the induction cooktop to help prevent scratching and catch spills. Usually it works great. However, on prolonged cooking, both paper towels and parchment paper have scorched--sometimes getting quite dark, even on medium or slightly higher setting. Are there scorch-proof things that I could put underneath the pans to protect the cooktop and keep it clean? Any silicone mats that would be sufficiently heat-proof?
