I was called to a home to repair two fissures in quartzite that had been "repaired" by the fabricator. Unfortunately, their color match was poor, and the filler material done well enough to make a do-over unfeasible. They have to live with it.

This particular quartzite had the adhered mesh backing too, so obviously the manufacturer knew of the fissuring nature of the stone. Checking your fabricator's layout to avoid/minimize fissures is critical.

They had a nice circular etch too. I got most of it out, but they didn't want to pay for complete removal.
