| Palimpsest, the unreplied to thread only stays on top in Kitchens for about a day. Usually starts sinking late afternoon. So bump. :) |

| I will bump this again but may start another no reply since at least it stays up longer. This may be a potential problem of utilizing the Conversations side: directing people there. |
RE: keep on top, no reply: design around #15-hollywood regency
| | |
| I'm already inclined to view using the conversations side as a failed experiment. It just seems like a hassle, and I suspect that traffic won't be as high. |

| Off page two. Michou, I resize everything on photobucket and although I now have a system it is code-heavy and takes up a lot of bandwidth and would recommend something else. There is an About Design Around this where the various methods are discussed. |

michoumonster, here's the thread where some of us discussed the various ways we build the boards. There are lots of ways to do it, and I hope you'll jump in (I've really enjoyed the ones I've participated in.) About the Design About This Threads |

| thanks for the link mudhouse! i am nowhere confident enough to participate in these threads. i was selfishly asking so that i can build a storyboard to ask for help.. but maybe someday if i learn enough from these threads.. :-) |
RE: keep on top, no reply: design around #15-hollywood regency
| | |
| Michou, that's not selfish, that's smart. Being able to post a story board with elements to look at really seems to allow the good folks here to provide much more helpful advice. I plan to do the same thing myself! :-) |

I just did it and wow is it scary. I keep thinking of things I could have added or subtracted. Maybe I should just have been a lurker. I am far better at helping others than trying to help myself. Do I really know enough about Hollywood Regency? I am second guessing myself. I would rather do a kitchen Reno than try this story board again. Michou, I urge you and any other lurkers to post a few pictures if you are too afraid to do a full board. Is there something that comes to mind when you think of Hollywood Regency Kitchen? Trust me if I can do it, you can do it. Be brave, join me. ~boxer |

| This is a Tony Duquette floor lamp, currently available through Baker. He got a little crazy sometimes :)

| Are people looking? Hard to tell. Just my unasked-for 0.02 -- I don't ever open the Conversations side (actually I had forgotten it existed) and I am usually skimming through the forum pretty quickly when I have a couple minutes, so I'm less likely to read the Design Around threads over there than over here. I've enjoyed the ones I've had time to read. I have to admit that Hollywood Regency is not a style that is relevant to my own house so that's not one I'd go hunting for (though I might look for fun if it were right in front of my face, as I did with Pink Kitchens which was indeed fun). Not that that has anything to do with the utility of a Hollywood Regency discussion; it is a very valid Design Around; I am just clarifying that I am not an unbiased reader. |
RE: keep on top, no reply: design around #15-hollywood regency

| Michou, while there are few design pros who post on the DATs, most of us started out exactly where you are: Not feeling very confident in our design abilities (still not, but I don't let it stop me--this is fun!), not sure how to build a board, nervous about putting something out there for critique. But I've learned a ton engaging on these threads, about the various styles and topics in the DATs, about posting pics and links and adding html tags to my posts, about different ways to build a mood board, about how to combine things in a design and to know when something just isn't working in the design and replace it with something else, even if I love it by itself. |

I often make strange connections, but the background of that eglomise looks like a very high end version of this:
 |
RE: keep on top, no reply: design around #15-hollywood regency

| What an interesting connection, you're right! I hadn't paid much attention to the background. Now I have to figure out why I find it acceptable in the eglomise but awful in the laminate (old associations?) |
