Trash Can Pedals

I have a question about these pedals...I am not sure how they work because I have never seen one in real life. Do you push the pedal while the cabinet is shut and the cabinet then opens, along with the cover on the trash can - or do you open the cabinet first then hit the trash pedal to open the cover on the trash can? Thanks!

I have a trash pedal. You push the pedal and the cabinet opens. Inside the cabinet, the trash does not have a cover, so that's a non-issue.

When you push the pedal, it allows the bungee cord to relax which pulls open the trash cabinet. Some pictures for you:

We have the same pedal that alku has, but our trash cans hang on rails attached to the inside of the door. Will post pics on my photobucket album very soon.
