Alternatives to an acoustic tile suspended ceiling?

I am seeking alternative ideas to the traditional suspended ceiling for use in an entry hall. The space will be approximately 4 1/2 x 10 ft. I have considered using a bead board panel or two that could be removed for access to the mechanicals above. Other thoughts?

Bead board or tounge and groove onto panels. Tin tiles would be a cool one too. You could also do a wood grid of painted trim and put cut sheet rock into the spaces. Make it look like the below ones. The last one would be harder to do than the other.

Also, if you should decide to keep a drop ceiling, drop ceiling tiles have come a long way from the old acoustic ones. Look at the offerings from Fasade and Ceilume, for example.
