Ikea's Numerar is a bit narrower (@ 39 3/8'') than you asked about, but seems to have had good feedback elsewhere in this forum. Depending on the size of your "shoestrings", there are several alternatives in the $400-500 range.

Also of note, that there have been some unhappy reviews in this forum with the quality of the butcherblock tops purchased from Lumber Liquidators. (No personal experience with them, just passing along what I've read here).

Check out prefabricated counter tops (granite or quartz). Mostly in counter top width, but some also have island size, e.g. link below.
