I'm not any help with the price, but it never occurred to me to match my rangetop and hood. As with all the appliances in my kitchen, I chose the one that would do the best job for us for the price. I have a Wolf rangetop and an Electrolux hood.

Agreed. I wouldn't mix finishes on appliances (meteor gray with copper for example) but I assume we're talking all stainless steel. Pick what you love most. When you get dressed, does all your clothing have to be the same brand? Just needs to look nice together.

I have a Capital range and a Ventahood range hood connected vertically by a locally made stainless steel backsplash. Don't worry about matching appliance brands.

The only time I worry about matching appliances is if they have handles. My kitchen has Broan Hood, a Monogram cooktop, Bosch Dishwasher and GE Profile refrig and oven. I am sure the monogram hood will look fine with the DSC range. But couldn't the place order a new DSC hood if that's what you really want?

I have a NXR range with a Thermador hood. I actually don't even use the Thermador motor (its way too loud) and instead use a remote blower by Fantech (which is much less pricey than the remote blowers offered by the hood makers!) instead.

My hood (body only) was about $300 I think -it was a discontinued model at a local shop- and the remote blower was about $250 if I remember correctly. It's so much quieter!

We did the install ourselves, that would have added significantly to the price I am sure.

I have a DCS range and a Kobe hood, they look fine together.

Capital Range and Viking hood. I got the range I wanted and the hood I wanted. Look great together.

Not to throw in a wrench into your plans, but did you look at Capital? The guys who started DCS started Capital after DCS was purchased by Fisher/Paykel. I love my range.

None of my appliances are made by the same maker! BlueStar range + Modernaire hood. They're the same color, so I doubt anyone would ever know but me.

What Rhome said re: choosing what works best. I will have buestar cooktop, futuro hood. Previous home - Fivestar Cooktop, futuro hood.
