Someone on here had wood floors, pine cabinets and some kind of wooden counter... it looked great but had a rustic, southwestern vibe. How close in tone are the three woods going to be?

I have four different woods in my kitchen... Oak, Pine, Maple, and Mesquite. I also have a pine ceiling, and pine paneling on the walls... I'm a woodworker, what would you expect? :) This is the only section of Maple butcherblock though, the sink counter is white ceramic tile, (soon to be replaced by Soapstone)

If they're close in color then you get the effect of a jeans suit.

This older thread shows a few, unfortunately the link that I had put in no longer works and I cannot find the kitchen but it was a lot of wood and looked nice. I do believe that it is a hard look to pull off well.

I just posted a question and pictures of my kitchen that was done in the 70s with wood cabinets and wood countertops (but terra cotta floors), as I have decided that I want to paint the cabinets. I like the idea of wood on wood, I just don't like the execution in my current kitchen. For me, it's not that it's too much wood, it's that the different woods have clashing tones (the counters are yellowish while the cabinets are peach-ish). I don't know if they went together better 40 years ago, but I don't like it now. There are some pretty examples above though!

It's all in how you do it. If the colors are too close than you get the "cigar box" effect. I have learned on GW that when you do woods together there should be at least a two point shade difference.
Everything is according to taste, but you do want to avoid doing something that even you will realize is a mistake.

You're right about it being hard to find pictures! But then it's hard to find pictures of non-white kitchens these days. There is a huge variety in the photos that I found. They cover everything from ultra modern to very rustic. Take a look and see what you like and what resonates with you. You're obviously drawn to wood (me too!) and I think you could have a beautiful kitchen with wood floors, cabs and counters. It's probably also something that would be pretty easy to make a mess out of. But you can say the exact same thing about a kitchen that is all white. You'll want to make sure your wood tones work together. I'd love to see pictures of samples you're thinking of using.

Would it be too much for me, personally? Yes, way too much. That said, if you like the wood with wood look (which you likely do because you're doing wood cabinets with wood flooring), I think it can be done tastefully. ctycdm and fredanj provide some good examples. ellendi's point that you want to avoid the colors being too close and causing a cigar box effect is a good one. I personally would recommend adding some other materials/textures to the mix if you do go all wood, such as tile or stone backsplash, maybe some stainless appliances, etc.

You guys (and gals) are all so awesome. Thank you! While those are all incredible kitchens, none of them are singing "my song." So now I know. And you saved me from putting in something that I would not have been happy with at all.

Makes me think of one of my girls when she was little. I gave the kids a pitcher of water that they could use to pour their own drinks outside. Well, she, being all of about 2 at the time, poured herself a drink at the little picnic table, and was rather distraught and kept exclaiming "Too much, that's too much!" while she continued to pour the water into her already overflowing cup. She didn't realize that she was the one who was causing her cup to overflow. I don't want that feel in my kitchen. If it was a woodsy or modern kitchen it would work, but it is neither of those.

Honestly, if I could pull it off without the maintenance nightmare, I think I'd do white cupboards in a heartbeat. Wood just makes so much more sense for our busy family right now. I'm cataloging the information about keeping some contrast between the cabs and the floor.

These are two of my favorite kitchens ever. The first one has a stone or something counter but a wood back splash. Yes. Cool right?

The second one has a lot of reclaimed white oak with a matte clear finish. Beautiful. I love wood on wood on wood on wood....but I think it's the contrast as others have said that really make it amazing. It's warm and feels like anyone can go in there and make something to eat.

IMO, all wood = no good. Unless you are going for the tree-house effect. None of those photos appeal to me - but it's all personal preference.

I love each of those items - butcher block counters? gorgeous. Gleaming wood floors? Beautiful. Rustic pine cabinets? Charming. But I would never pair all three together. Even two are fine - but all three just look, well, like a forest to me.

My kitchen has a lot of wood in it, including the log walls! Hope this helps!

Iowacommute-- I like the 2nd kitchen you posted. The white/oak & darker wood look great together. Looks sorta English style..
