Blum vs Hettich

We are looking at two cabinet suppliers. One uses Blum hardware, the other Hettich. My understanding is that both are excellent. Does anyone have specific experience comparing the two? I am most concerned about the Hettich since there are so many more opinions about Blum. Easy to open the drawers?

Thank you

    Hettich is very high quality.

No idea of current quality, but the Hettich hardware on our cabinets is 20-25 yrs old and it still works very well indeed. No problems at all.

there are no quality issues with Hettich, their lack of advertising and consumer awareness is nothing more than a lack of effort.

Hettich supplies a lot of commercial and OEM appliance manuf. with slides. Think $10,000 fridges and $5000 ovens.

They were also slow to jump on the "soft close" bandwagon, which has little function but looks cool in the showroom and on remodeling porn shows.

I have Hettich softclose for all my drawers. I had assumed they were going to be Blum and I was concerned when I found out they were Hettich, because I had never heard of them. But the cabinet maker assured me that they were arguably better than Blum. He showed me an older and a newer Blum slide and showed me where Blum has changed their slides over the last few years to reduce cost. Mainly shortening the full extension mount. The Hettich felt heftier in hand. I followed up with my own research and the feedback was very positive. My Rev-a-Shelf trash pullout uses Hettich too. The Hettich slides are very smooth.

I don't have Hettich for door hinges though so I can comment on those. My cabinet maker used Salice. He said he liked them better than Blum. I didn't ask why he didn't use Hettich for the doors.

Salice hinges are good too. They are a little more elegant looking than BLUMs.

It should also be noted that it was they who came up wth the "soft close" feature nearly ten years ago. It was a small piston called SMOVE. They were also the first to fully integrate the soft close damper inside the hinge itself instea of the clip on type made common by BLUM's blumotion.

That is % 100 Blum which has the finest moving quality and long lasting lifetime. Our salesman from Blum (his name is Emre) has sent a new incredible runner system caller movento, where I have never seen a solution like this. The runner carriers 40 kg standard and opening nt is like buttermilk, very easy! Nobody can tell that Hettich is better than Blum. Hettich makes noise!!! Blum's all products are fantastic. Hinges, lifts and runners.

It has been 8 years since you posted this message, and I am now in the same predicament! Does anyone have an updated view to the above question?

Hi Sheree! which ones did you end up using each time? Are you happy with the ultimate result?

We've used Blum hinges and Tandem undermounts with the soft-close features for many years and have never had an issue. I guess we just feel confident in the product and don't mind the higher price and therefore will not try other brands.

    You will not be disappointed!
