I have the peg in drawer system and I can honestly say that I don't think it is necessary. Of course I didn't find that out until after I already owned it. There have been previous discussions on this. Below is a link to one of those discussions

I initially wanted one, but never got around to getting it, and at this point I don't think it is necessary. Might depend on whether your dishes rattle around or not; ours are stoneware and pretty much stay where we put them, and I don't see the need for it. I'd try it without first and see if it bugs you--they're easy to add!

Use a cushy type shelf liner and you should be fine. I like the flexibility of the open space.

Agree with campy -- Try cushy cupboards, beloved around here and a little $$. I was skeptical but have eventually replaced all of my cheaper Costco variety shelf liner with this stuff. It is as great as its reputation. And one roll does go a very long way.

I put down oil cloth, nothing moves. I use every mm of space because my drawer widths are not very wide there is no way anything can jiggle.:)

Not necessary. And neither is shelf liner.

I'm with catbuilder--no need for pegs or shelf liner. My dish drawer is used constantly, and the dishes do not shift in the drawer with the soft close drawer mechanism. My everyday dishes are bone china. If they were at risk of chipping in the drawer, I would certainly do something about it.
