Hiding Appliance Cords

Sorry if this is a duplicate, but I can't find the message I (thought I) posted yesterday.

I'm curious about what options there may be for dealing with cords on appliances that we use often enough to leave on the counter, like coffee pot, espresso machine, maybe a separate milk frother (Christmas acquisition so still evaluating), coffee grinder, and maybe KitchenAid mixer. I don't mind the outlet and plugs, but with even a few appliances, the feet and feet of cords can be a mess.

Is it feasible to put outlets inside a lower cabinet and run the cords through a hole in the counter top? Or have a 'gash' in the back of the counter that the excess cords drape into? We're not planning an appliance garage, so other ideas are appreciated (though "plan an appliance garage" may be the most popular).
