KAW...why I love soapstone ! Science at work..

We live in AL...great peanuts !! Our local farmer's market has shelled 5# bags for $7.25. I bought 10# and DH roasted them . 30 minutes at 325 degrees convection roast Miele oven. Then he placed them on the soapstone to cool. Boy did they snap and crackle :) The heat from peanuts to the colder stone...science at work ! DH then took them outside and rubbed the skins from the cool peanuts...compost for the garden...more science . I placed them 2c at a time in the Cuisinart and slowly ground them..ohh..the fragrance. I added about 1/4 tsp peanut oil..these are oily peanuts to begin with so don't need much. Added a pinch of salt and a drizzle of honey...YUM !! Now I am going to make my granola....

Suzanne...it is very easy. My Momma cut it out of the Orlando Sentinel newspaper in the 80's.

Cat..you are fresh !! just like the peanuts :)

Mix 2c honey
2c peanut butter
1c hot water
2 Tbsp cinnamon
3 tsp salt ( depends on how salty pb is )
may add other spices if you like and vanilla
Heat till smooth.

Mix 12 c rolled old fashioned oats , 2 c sunflower seeds, 2 c coconut ribbons ( I don't like small pieces ) 1 c sesame seeds, 1c wheat germ, 2 c chopped nuts.

Add above warm dressing and stir well. This is a double batch so you can halve it. Spread on parchment paper on large pans and bake at 300-325 for at least one hour or more. Stir frequently after first 20 min. I like mine nice and toasted. It will cont. to brown after you take it out.

bee...we sure have thought of it but our lot is so small. I have a beekeeper just up the road and I buy qts of it from him. Then when we travel I always buy local honey.

Glad you have a very local source, undoubtedly his bees are visiting your garden to gather pollen! But for anyone who is interested, you can raise bees on an apartment balcony, they really need no room. Would I have a hive right outside my slider on a balcony...ummm, I'm not that brave.

ah..well I will just have to bring you some IRL...

bee...he is probably to far for his bees to be coming to me...he divided his hives and really wanted me to take one ...I still could but we are gone too much I think. Maybe when we settle down more. :) c

No fair. Below zero up here! You are so lucky to be getting 10# of peanuts for that price. It all sounds wonderful and looks better!
