Come take a peak at my Costa Esmeralda!

| Well, it went in yesterday and I have to say I just love it!! Definitely feels a little more green than I thought, but there is also lots of grey/blue too. Really looks beautiful and a breeze to keep clean. Doesn't show fingerprints and crumbs. Sorry these aren't the best pics. I have to work on my camera. You can click on the pictures to see them bigger and more of the album.
So, now onto paint, backsplash, pendants, chairs and stools. The paint is going on the big wall behind the island and around the table/window wall.We are having all new trim put up, and crown molding over the cabinets/I would like that wall to stand out a little from the granite. Not sure what I'm going to do there yet. Thinking of Espresso bar stools and table...unless you think black would be better.

positano I have loved following your threads - I meant to post on your last(?) re: cabinet color - Everything is really coming together your palette is very soothing - Love the cabs - I like that they are not stark Costa is stunning - great choice! Loved just looking through your pics - yummy! I love the aqua blues but for some reason, never liked blue in eating areas (just me) Of all your pics I like the one showing wine fridge, flowers and paint samples - The paint I like the best is the khaki(bottom, largest) colored one - To my eye, the blues & greens are just not the right blue or green - Link for stools didn't work - but from what I understand on here go for comfort! Seems the biggest regret w/stool purchase is lack of comfort. You really have unlimited options for backsplash - It appears your home is traditional - So, my personal pref would be stay traditional - Although I think color like a glass subway would be beautiful - I tend to feel that it limits that down the road changes - if that makes sense keep posting ! |

| looking great!!!!!!!!!! and your ss appliance changed the look of everything too!!!! are you trying to bring some blue tones in? have you tried a paint with more gray in it? one of the ones i was looking at was sw conservative gray (i think????) and sedate gray. try to bring one of those home and take a look. i also like ralph lauren....stone. anyway, i think the ce can really change colors based on the paint color. i went with the grecian ivory and i think it brought the green out for me. (mine seems more gray than most ce)......maybe the gray's will lessen the green???? don't know but i'd check them out!!!!! i'm soooo excited for you!!!!! it's really coming together. i think i'd go for expresso stools too..... |
RE: Come take a peak at my Costa Esmeralda!

| That is so, so pretty. I cannot imagine anyone would ever get tired of looking at that. |

I think I want to stay away from painting the walls blue. I have a lot of that color in my living room. I was looking at Sag Harbor Gray....a nice khaki neutral. Or a putty color would work too. I feel like I need a little color for a pop. What about a touch of orange? Maybe in the window treatments. Something with the green and orange? I found this pendant for over the table at Room and Board. Comes in Blue/green or orange/green. Think it's too much? I think my style is Transitional. Here is a link click on orange and ocean. |

| i love the orange/green stripe!!!! i thought my kitchen looked really good at christmas time with all the red and green in it.....and sometimes i have green apples and oranges in my bowl on the island and the orange is a great accent......i think it will work..... |

| Nice granite and that lamp is very cool. It'd add a great touch of fun to the room. |
RE: Come take a peak at my Costa Esmeralda!

| Well, you never have to worry about your cabs being too creamy again. I can't imagine a more perfect combination in your kitchen. The costa is beautiful. |
RE: Come take a peak at my Costa Esmeralda!
| | |
| Eeek!!! I LOVE your cabinets and granite together. I definitely think you should do espresso stools...but a dark dark brown bordering on black. It will look stunning. Your cabinets don't look too creamy, your granite doesn't look too green. Step back, don't overanalyze. |

| I went out and got some Clementines and orange flowers to see how it looked. I really love it...and I painted a swatch of the sag harbor gray. Sag Harbor Gray

| What *perfect* touches. You have a great eye. |
RE: Come take a peak at my Costa Esmeralda!

| Positano, the orange of the clementines is just the right pop of color....very nice. I really like the Sag Harbor on the wall, it goes great with the Costa. Get over to HomeGoods they had a bunch of accessories in orange. |
RE: Come take a peak at my Costa Esmeralda!
| | |
| I'll definitely check out Homegoods. Dh is not sold on the paint, thinks it's a little blah. Any other suggestions? Thanks for all the comments! |

| If I were to do granite, that would definitely be at the top of my list - looks great, especially with your cabinets. The gray looks pretty with it and would allow you to bring in any color down the road with accent pieces. If you don't have a lot of wall that will be painted, maybe you can convince DH? OT--your island is pretty much the same shape as mine is going to be. I had the cabinet I will be using for the island templated yesterday for marble. Could you tell me what edge you have as well as the radius of your corners? Are all four the same? I ask because I am shooting for your look and the fabricator and DH are trying to get me to go with more of a curved edge on the overhang side to make it more friendly if you run in to it. The fabricator said it was a 4" curve on those corners and a 1" on the cabinet side corners (hope that makes sense). Me, I would just as soon be more careful and live with whatever bruises I got (LOL)! The fabricator also seemed very reluctant when I was trying to describe the simple edge to him that your pic seems to show and was going to put something a little more formal on it (if that is the right word). Also, could you tell me how much of an overhang you have? Thanks! |
RE: Come take a peak at my Costa Esmeralda!
| | |
| Tell Hubby to get over it ;). No, seriously. That color is perfect with the granite. The "life" for your kitchen will come with the accessories, etc. What are you planning on for a backsplash? |
RE: Come take a peak at my Costa Esmeralda!
| | |
| I agree with pbrisjar, the granite is so beautiful that you don't want a paint color that will compete with it. I think the Sag Harbor brings out the beauty of the Costa....just my opinion and you're the one who has to live with the hubby....LOL |
RE: Come take a peak at my Costa Esmeralda!

Oh it looks gorgeous! The whole kitchen looks great, so much sunlight making it all sparkle! I just love my costa esmeralda so I know how you are feeling too! Can't wait to see your other choices. vic |

| Beautiful!! May I ask what type of refrigerator you put in and if it's regular or counter depth? Thanks so much! |

| Dh is actually pretty easy going. He always says I don't know why you ask for my opinion.....your just going to do what you want anyway. So, if I like the gray he'll be fine. He just wants me to love it! What a guy. Not sure what I'm doing for backsplash. I really like the look of the tile behind the range in the picture. Not sure if it's mosaic or mini brick.Looks like the colors are grey, green maybe a touch of blue. Hard to tell in the picture. I also think cream subways would look nice. Maybe in a longer shape like REDROZE? Anyone have any ideas? not sure if I want to do glass, although Walker Zanger has some beautiful ones. Walker Zanger The more I look at this, the more I like it.
I was looking at the top right colors.
Farmhousebound- My island is 31.5x61. I love it!! We are only using the kitchen for minimal things since we still don't have the faucet, dw etc. So, I haven't loaded up the cabs, but it is so great to have a nice space to work on. It feels a lot larger than I thought. If I had small stools I could fit 4 around it no problem. The kids love to sit at it with their friends. I have an Eased edge, I also wanted a cleaner look. Nothing too fussy. All 4 edges are the same. In the picture they look a little sharper than they are. They are softly rounded. When it went in, I second guessed myself. Maybe I should have rounded them more so the kids won't run into them. But if you have stools on the corners they have to walk around them. If they hit their head on the granite it would hurt no matter if it was more rounded or not!! They'll just learn to go around. My dd had a bunch of her friends over the other day(4.5yr olds) and all they did was run around the island. Kept saying ...careful girls watch your heads!! No injuries to report. I love the way it looks. A friend just had the eased edge installed before me, so I knew that was the one. I have a 12 inch overhand on two side. My trash/recycling is in the short end facing the dishwasher and another cab across from the fridge. I opted for more seating space than storage. Hope that helps!! |
RE: Come take a peak at my Costa Esmeralda!
| | |
| Thank you! Between that information and talking w/ my DH's aunt last night at dinner, I am convinced of which direction I want to go and it always helps to get confirmation. Now to make a phone call Monday to the fabricator to change all 4 edges to the same radius! My overhang will be the same as yours as well and overall top will be 72" x 35". |

| The creamy & costa are the perfect combination! My cabinets (very similar style to yours) are soon to be finished & then I have to choose a "creamy" color also. Will you remind me-- which color did you use? I'm considering using a peacock green granite. Love your kitchen- keep the pics coming! |
RE: Come take a peak at my Costa Esmeralda!

| jejvtr- wow, thanks for doing all that searching!! Love the prints from Crate and Barrell, mixer and the dish towel. I already have the mixer in Stainless though. How did you find the time to look for all that. bdaykitchen- My cabinets are from Adelphi. I picked one of their colors called eggshell. And the granite is Costa Esmeralda. Peacock green is very pretty, my sister in law has it in her lake house. Looks very dark in some lights and more green in others. Farmhousebound- My kitchen guy originally suggested I do a more rounded corner on one side to fit another stool. I think it would have driven me crazy to have it not be equal on all 4 sides. |
RE: Come take a peak at my Costa Esmeralda!

| Would you mind telling me the size, counter depth or regular, of your refrigerator? I'm trying show my husband how much better counter depth would look in our space based on your pics but want to verify that's what you have. Your kitchen is beautiful! Z. |
RE: Come take a peak at my Costa Esmeralda!

| Z- I have the Kitchenaid KBFS20ETSS Architect 2 19.7 cu.ft. Counter depth french door. The cabinet frame covers all of the fridge except the doors. I think it looks great....more built in. Here is a link- I also posted on your other thread. Not sure if you saw it. |

| Have you decided on a wall color yet? I have Costa Esmeralda in my master bath and went through samples of many Restoration Hardware colors. I tried Latte, Cappuccino, Sycamore Green and Bay Laurel, to name a few. Everything looked a bit blah to me so I posted on the home decorating forum for opinions. I ended up with a creamy beige from Benjamin Moore, if I remember correctly. Here are some of the choices and the end result. |

| Thanks for posting the pics annkathryn. Your granite is beautiful, love that blue grey color in it. |

| I too am looking for a paint color for my kitchen that has maple cabinets with a cherry stain and Costa Esmeralda on both the backspash and countrttop. Mine is a condo so it is small and has a northern exposure with the breakfast room facing west. |
