my only comment is that american woodmark and shenedoah are the same cabinet with different names. check out the american woodmark website as they have 2 other rebrands too
schrock/diamond/kemper/thomasive also are all the same with different badges..ie plymouth/dodge/chrysler

I am curious if kabinart and Aspect (by shiloh) and american woodmark are equivalent level (quality/finish) or if one is better than the others.

I have pretty equivalent quotes for all of them so I had planned on focusing on the specs for the build of the cabinets for making a choice.

Also: is moving from all wood to plywood drawers a dumb way to save money?

How about moving from full overlay to partial overlay?

I've been in the biz for 30 years so here's my opinion.

About 14 years I go my business considered Kabinart. At that time, several of my kitchen industry friends advised me to stay away from that line. Other than that, I have no other experience with the line.

Shiloh is a great cabinet line and they use the same finishing process on Aspect as they do their regular line. Also, with Aspect, all finished ends ar 1/4" finished veneer (NO vinyl or melamine matching wood grain ends!!!!!) With many other brands in this price range, you would have to upgrade box or end panels to get real wood on the ends. I would also keep their standard drawer guide. I personally do no like their upgraded drawer guide....it's not an upgrade. The standard one is better.

To me, the finish is more important than the box construction. Even the cheapest of cabinets that are certified, will withstand 20+ years of wear and tear. THE FINISH is what's the most important (to me.)

I am OK with the plywood dovetailed drawers! They will hold up fine and are very strong! If you want to save the $, there's nothing wrong with them. The only thing I would rather have with the hardwood drawers is the finish. I believe plywood drawers are covered with melamine type material.
