| Hello -
We're on the verge of starting a major kitchen remodel (hoping to order the cabinets in 2 days). We are moving existing windows around as part of the plan.
Attached are elevations of one angle of the current kitchen plan, which employs a peninsula design... The version on the bottom is the one we were going to go with - it places one window squarely over the sink, then has two cabinets to the left (the left-most one doesn't show in this rendering, but it is an angled-cabinet with exposed shelves), and then there’d be a single smaller window at the end to give light to the people sitting at the peninsula bar.
Just had a fleeting idea - would it be better to just have one big window at the end of peninsula, instead of two individual windows and the two detached cabinets? Note, knocking-off the two cabinets wouldn't hurt us, because there's tons of other cabinets being placed in other parts of the kitchen. I edited our original plan by superimposing a larger window on top of it to get an idea as to what this might look like – it’s the top image. The angle isn’t right, but you can get the idea.
The mocked-up new version with the larger window looks better to me, but what do other think? At first I thought the window HAD to be squarely centered over the sink, but now I don't know if it has to... this new plan gives the person at the counter & the person at the sink a good view.
One more note - we don't want to place windows down the other side of the kitchen (like where the stove is) for a number of reasons.
Thanks so much!
