painting my oak cabinets - love some feedback

The kitchen sits in the middle of the room. It's all one big space. These are 1993 faded, dingy builder basic oak cabinets with finger pulls rather than knobs. I was thinking of doing a cramy white and maybe adding some moulding to the top and bottoms and nickel knobs to dress it up. I am also thinking of painting the island a chocolate brown. I could tie the island and the white cabinets together by antiquing them a bit....but I don't know. I love the granite and the black appliances so those can't change. I was also thinking to change the panty doors to wood and glass real doors vs. bifold. Will I be sorry if I paint these...should I jsut add some black knobs and live with it....my budget is $1000 give or take.

Loriet, post this on the "discussions" side of this forum (you are now in the "gallery" section) - that's where you will get the traffic and feedback.

paint 'em! I'll watch for your post on discussion side and repost my vote to paint them.
