I am finally getting around to update this 25 year old kitchen!! Not a lot of work , only redoing the countertop (yuck to tiles!), and I want to keep the color light. I am not too excited about having dark granite with the honey maple cabinets plus the pink tone of the floor.

What do you all think about the bordeaux granite here? (not quite sure what granite exactly it's called). I also need help with backsplash idea. I do not want granite backsplash, but given the movement of the granite, I would like to keep it simple. Idea?
