What to do with this Kitchen

So I'm using Ikea to plan my kitchen remodel, but I have no idea where to start. We tore up the old floor to find beautiful hardwood underneath, so flooring idea is done, but layout and size of this room is just HORRIBLE!
My first idea was to knock down the Dining room wall, and make the two an open platform (Dinning room is the southern wall in the picture)
But I just don't know or what to think, so I"m looking for ideas and suggestions.
