Is this really Soapstone? Help!!!

My fabricator has this stone which I am told is soapstone, though I don't remember ever seeing its pattern before. It is soft (it scratches) and its pattern emmerges beautifully when it is wetted with water. Attached pics are unoiled and then oiled.

Is this a soapstone anybody recognizes or knows anything about? Could it be a marble or a serpentine? Please help!

RE: Is this really Soapstone? Help!!!

If you haven't already done so, I suggest you post this on the "Discussions" side of the Kitchens Forum. This is the "Gallery" where people usually post threads for the Finished Kitchen Blog or similar, usually not for discussions.

The Discussions side is also much busier!

I also suggest you check out the "Read Me" thread for newcomers to Kitchens (or old-timers that need more information on something!)

Oh and you probably are not getting responses to your thread emailed to you even though you checked the box that says "Check here if you would like copies of follow-ups to your message emailed to you." This is b/c you do not have the email option turned on in your profile.

Again, see the "Read Me" thread for more information (linked below). Scroll down to the post w/the subject "Getting Emails Sent To You...3-step Process"

Here is a link that might be useful: Read Me If You're New To GW Kitchens!
