been looking at granite and can't find the perfect one. but, i found this beautiful soapstone called Finlindia Green. please give me some info on it if you have any. what about if you drop a dish or a glass on a soapstone counter from the cabinet above, what may happen? probably, the obvious, right? damage to the soapstone? and, if i were to use it as a breakfast bar, is it safe for such use, or could it crack easily if someone like a child, or an adult not realizing leans too hard on it?
and lastly, does one color over another, make it more durable? oh, i forgot 1 more, why do the salespeople in these stone showrooms, tell us that soapstone is not good for kitchen use? thanks again for the great info.

The best place to post this is on the conversations side of the kitchen forum, this page is for off-topic conversations, but perhaps someone will chime in with some advice. Good luck finding your answers!
