At least someone at HGTV seems to have put a stop to airing "Oh my GOD!" as a response to every single reveal on every single show.

Once - just ONCE - I'd like to see a prospective homeowner on one of those shows say "I want a kitchen that works - I don't really care what color the appliances are, or if the counters are granite."

How about that show Fixer Upper, love the style they have (poor man Novagratz)....and actually the work they do does seem to be pretty good quality, but when they give the budgets I must be missing something!

They gave a price for a large master bath reno of $3,500....I just priced out a bath Monday and the frameless shower door cost $3,500 alone

I really wish they would not give these silly numbers, just totally unrealistic!

I liked Fixer Upper, one time. All subsequent shows seem to have the same script, just a different house. Pleasant people, cute kids. But it's not worth my time, even skipping through the commercials.

I suspect budgets. I used to love Bang For Your Buck because it seemed to give an accurate cost of improvements and the city was identified as a factor, plus what you might be able to recoup in a sale.

After having lived through a 6-month whole-house reno and so lived through reality dealing with a GC and the trades, designers. decorators and the costs and an actual timeline, I no longer watch HGTV

I've seen reality and it isn't HGTV.

I think it's Love It or List It where a family of total slobs has their house redone. Everything is perfectly organized and in its proper place. You know that two months later it is a total "crap hole" again.
