Help with Countertops please!

I've been following the great conversations on this forum but this is my first post so hopefully I'm doing it right...

We are a few days away from demo and I haven't finalized countertops yet! Costs are running high in other areas and are looking to minimize expense on counters but still with durable and beautiful results. Cabinets will be creamy white with subway tile backsplash and stainless appliances. Options include:
1) quartz Cesarstone Nougat on sink wall and adjacent penninsula or
2) same quartz on sink wall but Ikea butcher block on penninsula

We had custom butcher block quoted but was too expensive. We like the idea of having a softer surface on the penninsula as it adjoins the dining room.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Any help is very much appreicated!!

If you haven't already, I suggest posting this on the "Discussions" side of Kitchens. This is the "Conversations" side that's for off-topic, general conversation types of topics. The Discussions side of Kitchens is for on-topic discussions concerning kitchen remodels. You will most likely get many more responses over there.

Good luck!
