Goodman Comfortnet - by WR ??

I have a new Goodman GMVM96 heater installed using my original thermostat. I am interested in adding a communicating thermostat in make use of the modulating gas valve and humidity control. This is my dealers first 96% installation, has it working fine, and feels that it is a waste of money.

The White Rogers web site says that they supply this equipment to Goodman (and Rheem). There is a WR retro kit, # 1F98EZ-1421 available for $220 that includes both the wall unit and a board to be installed in the heater. The WR pictures and specs look identical to the Goodman components.

Is my logic correct ?? Thank you.
