Igniter clicking

RESCO model BS2, Other numbers, BS2AAN000112AAA, 3993VC4457

The furnace igniter clicks for a long time before lighting. I though it might be due to carbon buildup at the tip. Just a guess from cleaning a dryer igniter.

I have the install manuals but no parts or service. There are no pictures of the igniter section. I could not find any info on the net about RESCO other than they are probably not in the heater business anymore.

I was thinking of taking off the cover by the igniter, find the igniter tip and lightly wire brush it. I figured I should ask here before doing that just in case.
Is there anything I should look for in there, beware of & etc?

RE: Igniter clicking

Can you see the spark? Healthy? When the flame ignites, do you notice anything (sound, appearance) different?
