heat pump help

I have a 3 ton Payne unit that has a slow freon leak. It has been services three times in the last 18 months. It is currently not working and I am heating with what I believe are the electric strips in the inside unit. I'm debating if I should have a gas line installed (electric only house right now, about $1200 to get gas into house) and replace with a high efficiency gas furnace or replace the 11 year old heat pump. I live in central Ohio. I rarely use the heat pump for cooling in summer and usually turn it on only if it is above 90 degrees for an extended period of time. In the winter I usually have the temp set on 69 degrees.
