Wow, 4 tons. ~1300 sqft. I know this is FL, but was a load calc done to determine correct sizing? You do not want to move forward without one. I have more comments as I'm sure other posters do, but the sizing is the biggest concern here. Seems as though the equipment proposed is oversized and would not control indoor humidity level well, but a Manual J (load calculation) is the correct way to determine sizing.

+1 on doing load calcalations. If they indicate the need for 4T,you should spend less for smaller unit and put the surplus into weatherproofing the home. Are new ducts needed only to acomindate larger unit or is there other reasons? You might consider getting a secound perposal.

The ducts have been attacked by critters. They do need to be replaced.

Besides the size, I would want the GAM5 Trane air handler for improved efficiency or even better the TAM7 var speed air handler for best dehumidification especially taking into consideration your location.

Size is way out even for florida. When you go down to the right size you will have money for a more efficient system. Your location, with all the run time on cooling,savings from better SEER and EER ratings really add up.

But if you like the current system proposed upgrade air handler to the TAM4 at a minimum. TAM7 would be best but maybe overkill with that outdoor unit.
