 o
HVAC/Carrier estimate?

Posted by uncgal (My Page) on

I just got an estimate today for a new furnace and AC unit. I was trying to research if it was a good one.
It is for a Carrier:
58cva070-12
cnpup3014
24acb330

Comes with programmable thermostat, 10 year part warranty, 1 year labor warranty, 10 year compressor warranty. Can add humidifier for $400.

Quote was for $6100, but the guy seemed like he would go lower - but I have no idea what to ask for. This is a foreign language to me. They are a reputable local company and I would like to go with them - but don't want to pay too much either.

I don't even know the efficiency information on these. Any information/help would be great.

Thanks!

Only way to know if a bid is good is have another local dealer quote equal equipment. The CVA is a deluxe 2 stage variable speed 80% furnace. The A/C is a step up 13 SEER model.

Based on your user name, I will assume you live in NC and that you are sized correctly.

There are several issues that I don't like about your quote.

1.The Infinity 80 furnace deserves the Infinity controller. Without it would be a mistake.

2. I don't believe your quote qualifies for the Fed Govt tax credit. Leaving up to $1500 lying on the table is a mistake. I would upgrade your condenser to the qualifying Performance 15 series either AC or heat pump.

IMO
