what size is your home?

XR15 which was recently introduced to take advantage of the fed govt tax credit.

here are several configurations.

non communicating air handler

3435476 Active Systems XR15 TRANE 4TTR5042E1 4TEE3F49B1 40500 13.00 16.00 1

pair with HW VP IAQ stat

communicating air handler

3435463 Active Systems XR15 TRANE 4TTR5042E1 4TEE3C05A1 40500 13.00 16.00 1

pair with XL900 stat.

one negative is the decibel rating of the XR15-rather poor.

If you live in South Fl
I'd get a quote on the Trane XL20i.
South Fl has the least expensive pricing of air conditioning in the world don't ask me how companies survive down there. Just get a few quotes and someone will do it next to nothing. Pay the extra money for the 10 yr parts and labor warranty through Trane to cover yourself.

You can get a XL20i for the price we sell XR15's up here in North Fl.
XL20i also has smart charging which may help in the installation process of your system.

The only other models I would recommend is the XR15 for tax credit or the XL15i(doesn't qualify for tax credit)
the XLi series is what people think of when they think of trane. You never see a trane advertisement showing the XR series.

I know Classicdave likes Trane HVAC and I do as well.

However, I have to say that Trane is falling behind in performance/eff numbers compared to Carrier.

I did not mention the two stg XL20i for two reasons. It comes only in full ton sizes so you would probably need a four ton mdl. This means your ductwork might require some modifications. And second, a four ton XL20i does not qualify for the tax credit. Trane is definitely behind the curve in this area.
