 o
need help heating garage apt.

We are finally finishing the apartment over our detached garage. It is a 550 Sq ft barrel vaulted room. It will be a studio space with an enclosed bathroom. Maximum ceiling height is 11 feet. The entrance is a ground level with a small foyer leading to the stairs up to the studio space. This apt will be used in the future for guests and this winter we will have a caretaker living in the unit.
We really don't want to install electric baseboard. We have radiant heat in our home, but do not want to spend the money for the radiant heat system in this space. We live in a very cold climate, temps well below 32 in winter occasionally below 0 for days at a time.
Will a heat pump even work in this environment? Alternately We have looked at eco heaters wall panels, but would need to put a very large number to heat the space. Any Suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any input

if your not willing to spend the money on the radiant floor why don't you use baseboard. It does cost money to do?

what about a torpedo heater at HD.

I guess the first question is do you want AC? If yes then heat pump is the way to go. If no then electric baseboard may be the way to go.

This is an excellent application for a mini-split heat pump. Produce heat down to 0 and electric heat below that. Very efficient with SEER ratings in the 19 range.
