Amana PTAC Issue - Heating Element

I have an Amana PTAC unit. I took it to an Authorized Amana Dealer and they gave me a written estimate of 600 for repair or sell me a new one for 700. I paid the 85 bucks and brought it home. They said it needs a new heat element/kit and a new control board. The new style control board I had put in only lasted 13 mos. I have taken it apart due to no heat. It is a heat pump model PTH123B35AJ. The dealer told me it was broken so I looked at it and found there are two black things. I presume some sort of thermal cutoff devices/thermistors. They appear to be in series but between the two thermistors one of the spades is broken and the dealer evidently took off the wire that was connecting the other side. Is there anything in between these to black things or are they just directly connected. I couldnt find a good picture on the internet to verify if its just a wire/metal tab that connects the two or what? The heating kit is part number 22312903 and the circuit board has PCBCP132 on it. I think possibly an RSKP0009 might be a universal replacement board. I can post or email pictures to someone if they might be able to help.
