Help with air handler size

Hey I have a 2 ton Heil heat pump which is one of those 10 seer ..and was going to update to at least 13 seer since I ll be moving in a year or so ..I have run into problem the only heat pump for the size air handler I have would be a Goodman ..the airhandler is in halway and door is about 24 by 36 ..American standard quit making that size last year ..The Carrier rep gave me a price on one of his base model and a handler which is a 2 ton but not theirs for 5400 which to me sounds high..the goodman would be 3200 different rep..and if he can find a last year american standard handler would be 3900 ..I have a patio home 1000sq.ft. He offered me the Goodman for same price with a 10 yr across board warranty..I am a female who has never had this kinda of work done so any input would be helpfull ahead of time thanks ..

door & frame can be removed for install.
what are inside measurements of closet?

measure inside the closet depth & width.
with the model numbers & brand of ahu
you can go online to mfg's site and
get physical sizes of ahu.

is modification of closet possible?
