New gas boiler:

I'm am going to replace the 20 year old Weil Mclain NG hydronic boiler in my primary home in SEMass. The house is 2x6 construction with new energy star windows and exterior doors, and has three zones, one of which heats a radiant system in our 280 square foot family room.

The btu calculators online seem fairly generic, plus won't let you choose both baseboard hot water, and radiant heat. The closest I came up with is 50,800 btu's, which sounds about right as the boiler also makes DHW with a 30 gallon Super Stor.

I would like to take advantage of the $1500 rebate for a >=96% unit. The choices I have seen so far are Lochinvar, Viessmann, and Triangle Tube. I appreciate any info please.

Boiler replacement is best left to qualified HVAC specialists. Getting the right load for you home is important, as well as making sure that you have the correct sized specialty items such as expansion tanks. Venting will also need to be addressed with a condensing boiler.

If you will do any future renovations that should also be taken into account.

If you plan to also heat water you want to look at both current and future water usage, not just "averages" Do you have a fancy new bathroom with multihead showers? Three teenagers?

Look at total installed cost and payback, not just "I want the rebate" . Sometimes being steered by a rebate does not put you in the optimal product for your situation.

What's the input and output in Btu of the old boiler?

51MBtu sounds awfully small for heating and DHW - careful you don't undersize it!
