Compatibility of programmable 'stats

I have a 30 yr old White-Rodgers analog thermostat running heat and central air. The label inside the cover says "Class 2" and 30VAC. It has one switch for HEAT/COOL/OFF and one for fan AUTO/ON. Will any of the major brand programmables be compatible placements? All the wiring is hidden and I don't want to remove the old one until I have a replacement in hand for fear it will give up the ghost if disturbed.
