Oil furnace sequence

Our oil furnace burner goes on for 3 minutes then shuts off. After 2 minutes the fan starts blowing lukewarm air instead of hot air like it used to. Is this normal? It still eventually gets to the right temperature but the weather is not too cold yet.

could be the setting on your combination/limit control are off. Could be a failing part. Hard to say with those symptoms.

I had an oil furnace in a previous house and an issue we had with heat turning on and then turning off in a short time was due to a dirty or bad flame sensor. The sensor was designed to stop the oil flow if there was no flame, so when it got dirty it could not sense the flame and the oil turned off. I don't recall if the blower kept operating.

We also had one failure of a control board that stopped the furnace from operating, but I don't recall the symptoms.
