"compressor is going bad and using more.amps to start? "

That's one possibility amoung others. If you agree to tell us what you plan doing with the information,I will list as many possibilities as I know of and I figure others can add to the list.

Was just wanting to know so when the technician comes, i am not.making a low information decision on how to.proceed. i think.a hard start ad on would work for now. If its the compressor using more.amps to start.

As promised,here are some reasons the breaker might trip.
Poor connections,under sized wire,under sized breaker,defective blower motor,dirty condenser coils,air flow obstruction,breaker box on West exterior wall,low voltage on utility company supply,existing start relay dropping out early or late and as you suspect,bad start capacitor,bad compressor or excessive power demand on compressor start.
With that out of the way,I don't advise telling a tech which it is. If you feel you must secound guess a tech,hire one you trust and allow him to do his job. I don't mean to imply all techs will but I know of cases where techs charged extra for a customer's diaganosis or help. Anyone in the business has heared "can you come put freon in my ac?"countless times when that wasn't the problem at all. If you want to learn hvac,help somone in the field and or sign up for a course. Many if not most experienced technicians aren't the best teachers on the net.
