I assume this is gaspak, gas furnace with AC.

But insist on a true 2 stage thermostat for 2 stage heating based on demand not a timer or an algorithm that will always go to high stage whether needed or not.

I would want a media filter cabinet as well.

Yes, this is a gaspak. Is the 2 stage thermostat something I should have installed with the unit or is it something I can do myself?

Unless you are familiar with specialty thermostats, I would let the dealer do it.

See what dealer recommends. Too many dealers hoodwink their customers on this issue.i would recommend HW Prestige 2.0 and depending on your location and summertime humidity would want dehumidify on demand set up as well.

No timer or algorithm thermostat is acceptable. Let dealer know this.

Stay away from Nest.

Thanks for the info... why don't you like the nest? I like the Prestige 2.0 and will probably go with that unit. I wish it didn't require the bridge for internet access however.

The Nest is a lifestyle thermostat backed by heavy marketing and popular with people/homeowners who love gadgets in their daily lives. It can shortchange the full functionality of upper end HVAC systems which I thought is the primary goal.
