Bryan heat pump and Evolution Controller model SYSTXBBUID01 -C

I have a Bryant heat pump installed in 2011 with Evolution Controller SYSTXBBUID01-C.

In heat mode, The backup heater quite frequently turns on unnecessarily. The Target temperature is set to 75 degrees, but despite that the room temperature shows 74-75 degrees the backup heater turns on even in relatively not cold weather. This results in very high bills.

It is my understanding that the backup heater should turn on only if the difference in Target and Room temperature is greater than 2 degrees. This seems to some kind of malfunction or incorrect setup issue. Please help
