| We are getting estimates on the Trane XL20i and two contractors have given us bids on two different outdoor units: Trane 4TTX6036 AND 4TTZ0036(airhandlers are the same: (4TEE3CO4). The difference in price is about $600.
It is difficult to compare when the quotes are on different models. We live in South Florida and are aware of the FPL rebate and government tax credit. We have a White-Rodgers digital thermostat now.. do we need a different type with the new system? We'd appreciate your advise. Thanks! |

| The 4TTZ0036 is a 20 seer 2 stage a/c The 4TTX6036 is a 26 seer single stage a/c For the 4TTZ0036 you should have a 2 stage thermostat to let the thermostat control the 2 stages of cooling |

| smoyert you have been quoted two different Trane three ton two stg AC condenser systems. The 4TTX6036 is the XL16i-a two step compressor. The 4TTZ036 is the XL20i-a two compressor condenser. here are the AHRI numbers. 3852423 Active Systems XL16I TRANE 4TTX6036E1 4TEE3C04A1 36000 13.00 18.00 3220642 Active Systems XL20I TRANE 4TTZ0036A1 4TEE3C04A1 36800 13.00 18.50 While the numbers are essentially the same and without going into why, I would not recommend the XL16i and think in the long run you would be happier with the XL20i. what mdl thermostat was quoted? new lineset to be installed? any whole house air filter? here is a link below that might be helpful. any small heat strip? | ...and having (3) failures on my 19i since Mother's Day...I have my own opinions of that model as well. First, take off the sound blankets, in South Florida - they tend to trip the overloads. Second, ask for spare boards...(3) failures since Mother's Day - blamed on FPL for voltage imbalance...funny, nothing else in my home has burnt out? Third...don't go with the already obsolete TCONT900 series thermostat - get a new Honeywell 2-Wire Prestige and have better control of temperature differences, humidity and staging...you don't need a Trane Stat to operate a Trane system. Finally...you will see little to no difference in power savings...I had R22 15 SEER in my home previously, replaced with 19i R410 and have nearly identical power consumption comparing months. |

| I have been quoted prices on the Trane XL16 (4TTX6036) 3 ton and XR15 (4TTR5030) 2.5 ton. I currently have a 2.5 ton, which is the best system. |
