CA vs window a/c

used to own 900 sq ft 1-1/2 story house. had 2T central air. worked great. low elec bills. i see new owners installed window ac unit in tiny kitchen. i know you can spot cool but it seems odd. i wonder if CA died? anyone here choose to not use CA and muddle along with a window unit?

In my neighborhood, many of the homes have put a Window Unit in the MBR on the second floor of the 2100 Sq Ft two story colonial floor plan here in the MD suburbs of DC. (Not to replace but to supplement central A/C.)

When faced with the choice of either a divorce or cooling the MBR, the cheaper option always prevails.

Since I went with newer equipment of the same size as the old unit three years ago, I got rid of the window unit.

Maybe they are using both? I had ac unit on 2nd floor also. Only had house for 4yrs. So, new owners might have 3 cooling options.
