Radiant Heat Insulation/Slab Question: Expert HELP!!
| | |

| We are building slab-on-grade with hydronic radiant floor heating. We just installed the visqueen and the foamboard and started laying tubing, however, it rained... a LOT! As we're walking around on the foamboard installing the tubing, we can feel all the water underneath.
Does anyone know: when they pour the slab next week, will the concrete absorb all that water through the layers of foamboard?? I know it won't actually come up "through" the foamboard, but through the crevices. Should we be concerned??
We are so worried that the water will just stay on top of the visqueen, thus rendering it pointless. Our plan is to turn up the radiant heat once it's all ready to go and hope that does the trick.
Any suggestions? Should we be worried?

| The water should evaporate in time laying on top the barrier. Why not just wait for that to happen by delaying the pour? |

| We live in Washington, where it will be raining almost daily for the next 10 months. Delaying the pour is really not an option. :) It's supposed to rain again today, but then we're supposed to have sun Monday through Saturday. We're pouring the house slab on Thursday and the garage slab on Friday. |

| Raining for the next ten months? How Depressing!! Just anouther sunny day in the mid 90's here. |
What I might do
| | |
| Water will leach up and destroy the concrete cure. Perhaps can you cut a circle out or two and dig out a bit and sink a pump to extract the water? |

| oh well rub it in why don't you! :) We actually don't get a lot of pouring down rain where we live, but lots of drizzling. As far as the water issue, pumping is really not an option at this point. We have all the tubing and foamboard installed/stapled. Hubby says it will be ok... just wondered if anyone knew for sure. :) |

| how is water going to leach up and destroy the cure? concrete can actually cure under water. |

| Yes, and to slow the cure in hot climates, you spray water on it. I don't see that a lot of water on the bottom would harm the concrete, but it might slow the cure. Call the folks doing the pour and see what they say. Surely they are used to pouring in wet conditions. You are in the rain forest, after all. :-) |

| Thanks for all the input. :) I feel better now. I will ask the concrete guys when they come on Thursday. :) |
