Central Air malfunctioning.

Okay, question. We just cleaned our condensation pan on ac/furnace unit because it smelled mildewy when we ran it. We put it back on, turned it on, and it was good and the smell improved. About a half hour later the unit stopped working and hasn't turned back on. We made sure the thermostat was on and tried the breakers. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Is it possible that a service panel was not completely seated and vibrated out of place? There may be a safety switch that is held in by the service panel.

If you haven't done it already, go back to the unit and make sure that everything you took apart is back where it was.

Other than that, I haven't a clue.

RE: Central Air malfunctioning.

May I ask how you cleaned it?

RE: Central Air malfunctioning.

Check the drain pan to see if it is draining properly. The cleaning may have clogged the drain trap and the overflow cut off switch may be shutting down the system.
