When gas was high priced, heat pumps made sense in some locations depending on the utility rates. In a cold environment where natural gas is available, gas heat is less costly right now. If you have gas heat now, you should probably stick with it, but post your electrical and gas prices.

More climate information might be desirable in addition to electric and gas rates. Where do you live? Is it humid there? How long will you live there. (If you plan on living in this home for a long time, investing a little more in an efficient system might make sense.)

I like Trane and Carrier (although I would want the tin plated option on coil for Carrier).

I can provide Mdl numbers on both brands if you like. Pay attn to heating BTUs needed as model numbers can differ as far as heating.

Just so you know gaspaks are only 80% eff on heating side.
