new HVAC help

I need to pick everyone's brain here. I have a two story home about 2,750 sqft. The living room is open to the second floor which is all open space. We are at the beach in Maryland so hot humid summers and cold windy winters. Our current system is 14 yrs. old and we are looking to switch out before it bites the dust. We now have three outside compressor units and three air handlers in the attics. The heat is a Heat Transfer Products Voyager boiler the supplies hot water to the air handlers and our domestic hot water and uses propane. We have had outrageous heating bills, as in gone for the winter, heat on 52 and bills as high as $500. If you are in the shower and the heat kicks on...oops. What to do??? Considering going to electric heat pump for HVAC and a gas water heater. Any ideas? Also want best outdoor compressors rated for salt air.
