Trane or AmStd heat pumps, XR15 or Heritage 15 models. Maybe a step up in model to qualify for Fed Tax Credit.

While I am sure the boiler hot water heat is nice, you must get away from the propane as the fuel. Dealer will need to check your electric service to see about the electric resistance heat. Air handlers, outside condensers, and backup electric resistance heat should be on separate circuits.

But he said he is going to a gas hot water heater. Does he mean going from electric to propane, or does he mean no longer using the boilers to provide domestic hot water?

I'm a she but that's beside the point :). We are on a barrier island so no I don't have access to natural gas. To keep the propane for domestic hot seems to make sense due to the quick recovery time v. electric. We have enough power to convert to electric for heat but, is that the way to go?
