It should be replaced-both outside condenser and inside air handler. I would be getting some estimates together and submit to insurance company. They might go for the condenser but probably the matching air handler would be on your dime.

Follow up:
Good news: We are cool with a unit back to the same condition as before the storm & didn't have to spend $$$$$.
Bad news: The Insurance co. isn't going to replace the unit or compressor.

The insurance sent an inspector out to look ay the unit. He checked every part in the outside unit & said the unit is is great shape.... turned on the breaker, the unit spun up and ran perfect, cooled the upstairs from 88 deg to 74 in a few hours. Was this an "A/C MIRACLE" or misdiagnoses by the a/c pro when the unit was tripping the breaker after the storm?
